As a kid and young adult (well into my twenties), I remember going to the beach every summer, for at least a week. I would read book after book, relaxing on the beach, listening to the ocean, and dozing off whenever I felt like. I would come home invigorated, recharged, and ready for anything!
Times have changed and my time on the beach looks different with two toddlers in tow, but the ocean still does something magical for my soul. There's something about the smell of the salt water, the cool ocean breeze (in Phoenix we only get the dry wind that is equivalent to opening the oven door), and the sound of the waves that brings me to my happy place pretty much immediately. It's like all is right in the world. I'm so excited that my kids get to experience that, and I have to say, this trip was their favorite trip yet to the beach. They are at an age that is so fun for me to watch and interact with them. They are funny, they witty, they are caring, they are loving, and they both did great for the trip with no naps. They both enjoyed the sand and they both ventured into the water (with their grandparents because I do not get in the water above my ankles anymore!)
Upon leaving this time, I vowed to make it out there more often, and bring us all back to our happy place, listening to the sounds of the ocean.
What are you doing this year to recharge? To relax? Be intentional about it, and get it on your calendar!
Now here are a few of my favorite pictures from Friday ...
Gage enjoying the beach Friday night, right after we arrived!
I always want to remember the look of awe as they saw the ocean, and these tiny, perfect, footprints in the sand.
After falling face first into the ocean trying to escape a wave, Hudson got bundled up and we ate dinner at the beach. They found a little skate park and watched the skateboarders, waving as they went by.
Check back soon for more from our trip, and of course, more pictures of the littles!
